HowToBuyCarbonCredits.com (“the site”, “we”, “us”) publishes general information about carbon credits, carbon offsets, carbon footprints and the rules around them. The site is meant to help readers learn and compare options. Nothing on it is an offer, a solicitation or a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any carbon credit, allowance, fund or other product.

2. Not professional advice

Nothing on this site is financial, investment, legal, tax, accounting, scientific or environmental-compliance advice, and none of it takes your own circumstances into account. Pages about investing describe how markets work. They don’t recommend buying or selling anything, and carbon credits and related investments can lose some or all of their value.

We collect information from online and offline sources, including government and regulator publications, standards bodies, registries, research papers, industry reports and providers’ own websites. We cite our sources on each page and review pages on a set schedule, but:

• sources can contain errors, and they can change or be withdrawn after we read them;
• carbon markets, prices and regulations change often, so a page may be out of date by the time you read it;
• we may make mistakes when summarising or interpreting a source.

4. Calculators, prices and examples

• Calculator results are estimates. They depend on the emission factors, assumptions and inputs shown on each tool, and your real emissions may be higher or lower.
• Prices are ranges summarised from published reports. They are not quotes, and the price you pay will depend on the seller, the project and the market at the time.
• Examples and illustrative images are there to explain a point. They don’t describe a specific project, buyer or result unless the page says so.

5. Providers, registries and other websites

We compare providers and describe standards, registries and other organisations using information they publish. We don’t control those organisations, and a mention on this site, including a logo used to identify an organisation, is not an endorsement by them or by us.

Links to other websites are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for their content, availability, products or practices, and their own terms and privacy policies apply. Rules on environmental claims differ by country and change over time. If you buy carbon credits, it is your responsibility to make sure any claim you make about your purchase, such as an offsetting or “carbon neutral” claim, follows the law and guidance that apply to you.
